Winter Wonderland

On a frigid January night in 2011, a friend and I rode snowmachines north of Fairbanks to reach a remote cabin, chasing the northern lights. The ride was rough—frozen trails, no suspension, and a run-in with overflow that nearly froze a sled solid. Exhausted but determined, we made it, lit a fire, and thawed out. Stepping back into the cold moonlight, I saw the cabin’s warm glow spilling onto the snow—and knew I had found something special. Some of the best shots come when you push past comfort.
