Turnagain Silt

Turnagain Arm is a favorite spot of mine, especially as the tide pulls back and reveals the mudflats—nature’s own canvas. Photographing here comes with a bit of caution. The ground feels solid at first, but stay too long in one place and you’ll start to sink, slowly and silently. It’s not until you try to move and nearly lose a boot that you realize how deceptive the surface really is.
