Bowing Spruce

It wasn’t uncommon to find myself under the northern lights while riding my snowmachine north of Eielson, Alaska. The cold out there shows no mercy—especially to camera gear. I’d often tuck my camera and batteries inside my jacket, hoping body heat would keep them alive just long enough. At twenty below, the camera groaned with every shutter click, but it managed to capture this shot, which I call The Bowing Spruce.
